Giddyup for our Annual Read-A-Thon!
The Edmonds Elementary PTA is proud to partner with our school Librarian, Ms. Carpenter, to kick off our annual Read-A-Thon, which runs February 13 - March 3.

In addition to promoting literacy and encouraging students to read more, Read-A-Thon is one of our PTA’s main fundraisers, with proceeds funding library programs, classroom book collections, classroom book fair grants, and annual PTA sponsored events and activities. Last year, our students raised nearly $9,000! This was used to purchase 200 new library books and recess equipment, and fund our PTA programs.

How it works

Students will have 3 school weeks to participate by logging their reading and collecting donations from family and friends in support of their reading progress.

Reading logs (example below) and donation forms are included in Read-A-Thon fundraiser packets, which were sent home in early February. Extras are available in the front office. 

Incentives

Students who log at least 360 reading minutes (i.e., fill in 18 western hats on their log) will receive a $5 credit at the Scholastic Book Fair in March and will be entered into a prize drawing for a Kindle Fire 8 tablet, Edmonds Elementary spirit wear, gift cards to local Edmonds shops, and other surprises.

Students who log any reading minutes (no minimum) will still be entered into the prize drawing.
The top 3 classrooms that raise the most money will receive $200, $100, and $50 worth of books for their classrooms.


Fundraising

Ask your family and friends to sponsor you. Sponsors may donate a flat amount at any point during the fundraiser or donate at the conclusion based on total books read or time spent reading (Example: $2/hour for 5 hours of reading = $10 donation). 

Donations can be collected via cash, check (payable to Edmonds Elementary PTA), or online here using PayPal or credit card (you do not need a Paypal account).

All donations are due by March 6, 2023. Cash and physical checks must be brought to school by this date in the fundraising envelopes provided.
